Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar,
And under the supervision of the Dean of the Technical College of Engineering Kirkuk, Assistant Professor Dr. Sami Redha Aslan,
Within the activities of the Sustainable Development Program of the Quality Assurance Department in the Presidency of the Northern Technical University and in cooperation with the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division and the Department of Medical Devices Engineering Technology
The Technical College of Engineering Kirkuk holds a workshop entitled Using Industrial Control in Plastic Recycling Processes
Presented in the workshop
Mr. Ahmed Kamal Ibrahim
The workshop
“Using Industrial Control in Plastic Recycling Processes” included a review of industrial control techniques such as automatic and intelligent control and their applications in improving plastic recycling processes. It was discussed how to use data and intelligent analysis to improve the efficiency of separation, processing and manufacturing processes for plastics. The workshop also addressed the challenges that these systems may face, such as costs and maintenance, and proposed innovative solutions to these problems. Successful case studies were presented on the application of technologies in industry. Finally, the focus was on future trends in this field and the importance of cooperation between academics and industrialists to achieve greater environmental sustainability.
The workshop aimed to:
• Introduce participants to the concepts of industrial control: enable participants to understand the basic principles of industrial control and their applications in improving industrial processes.
• Review modern control technologies: highlight automatic and intelligent control technologies and their use in improving the efficiency of plastics recycling processes.
• Analyze the challenges associated with the application of industrial control: discuss the challenges that may face the application of control technologies in recycling processes, such as cost and maintenance, and provide practical solutions to overcome them.
• Discuss the role of artificial intelligence in improving recycling: explore how to use artificial intelligence and data analysis to improve workflow and increase efficiency in recycling processes.
• Stimulate innovation in recycling processes: encourage participants to think innovatively about using industrial control technologies to improve the sustainability of recycling processes.
• Explore future applications of industrial control: discuss future trends in the use of advanced technologies to improve recycling sustainability and reduce environmental impact.
• Enhance cooperation between academics and industry: build bridges of cooperation between researchers and engineers in the industrial field to develop innovative solutions to improve recycling processes using industrial control.
Plastics recycling processes are linked to the Sustainable Development Goals:
The workshop on the use of industrial control in plastics recycling processes falls under the twelfth, ninth and thirteenth goals of the Sustainable Development Goals:
Goal 12: “Responsible consumption and production”
• Recycling and achieving resource efficiency: The use of industrial control contributes to improving plastics recycling processes, which leads to reducing the consumption of natural resources and reducing plastic waste. By improving the efficiency of production and recycling processes, waste can be reduced and higher productivity can be achieved with a lower environmental impact.
• Improving sustainability in industries: Industrial control helps improve industrial processes in line with sustainability principles, such as reducing energy consumption and improving the quality of recycled materials. This enhances the ability to achieve responsible and sustainable production in industries that rely on plastics.
Goal 9: “Industry, innovation and infrastructure”
• Enhancing industrial capacity to innovate and adopt advanced technologies such as industrial control can contribute to developing the industry in a more sustainable manner.
Goal 13: “Climate Action”
• Improving plastics recycling technologies using industrial control contributes to reducing carbon emissions and environmental impacts resulting from plastic waste.
• Applying industrial control technologies contributes to developing more sustainable practices in plastics production and recycling, which reduces pressure on the environment and enhances the sustainability of natural resources.
