The President of the Northern Technical University appoints a dean to manage the work of the Technical College of Engineering for Computer and Artificial Intelligence / Kirkuk
Based on the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, to invest in the energies of scholarship students and benefit from their capabilities, Assistant Professor Dr. Muntaser Aidi Sharif was assigned by the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, to manage the operations of the Technical College of Engineering for Computer and Artificial Intelligence in Kirkuk. Dr. Muntaser holds:
– Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Baghdad, 2006-2009
– PhD in Electrical Engineering/Mechatronics from Michigan State University, USA, 2019. He has held several positions, including:
– Head of the Electronics and Control Department from 2020 to 2024
– Head of the Medical Devices Department at the Technical College of Engineering in Kirkuk, from 2024 until the end of the 2025 academic year
– Head of the Software Department at the Technical College of Engineering in Kirkuk, from 2010 to 2012
– Currently, he manages the CISCO Academy and the English Language Center at the Technical College Kirkuk Engineering
He has over 14 years of academic experience, during which he has held various administrative and academic positions, including membership in the Higher Council for Quality and the Ministerial Committee for Technical Education Evaluation, as well as supervising university committees for program and institutional accreditation at the Northern Technical University. He has a distinguished research portfolio, including more than 25 scientific publications in prestigious international journals, an H-Index of 8 Scopus, and a patent in 2022 for an artificial muscle material activated by hot water.
Dr. Montaser has supervised more than 25 undergraduate graduation projects and seven master’s students. His research interests include bio-inspired smart sensors, smart materials, artificial intelligence in the Internet of Things, and renewable energy. He possesses extensive skills in simulation software such as COMSOL, ANSYS, and MATLAB, and programming languages such as Python, VHDL, and C++. He has also participated in international conferences specializing in smart materials and biorobotics, and has significant scientific contributions in journals such as Bioinspiration & Biomimetics and IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics.
