The Northern Technical University takes the initiative to restore pistachio cultivation to our dear province of Nineveh
Today, the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, launched a pioneering initiative in the field of agriculture, in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, the Dean of the College of Agricultural Technology, the Dean of the Medical Technical Institute of Mosul, and his assistants, which aimed to replant the pistachio tree in our dear province of Nineveh. After the governorate witnessed a decline in its agriculture over the years, this initiative was launched at the Agricultural Technical College thanks to the wonderful efforts of the work team in the Technology Incubator and Ecosystem Division, where 400 trees were planted in the college, and trees were distributed to 15 beneficiaries from multiple villages in Al-Hamdaniya. Nimrod, Tal Afar, and Zummar.
This step comes as part of our university’s efforts to contribute to promoting agriculture and stimulating environmental sustainability in the governorate. The President of the University stressed, through her speech, that our university used to have an imprint in Nineveh Governorate, specifically in the field of the environment, as it embraced many initiatives in the field of afforestation, combating desertification, and increasing Green spaces and resistance to climate change. Today, we are repeating the matter in a different way by reviving pistachio cultivation. Her Excellency expressed her hope that this initiative will contribute to stimulating local farms and improving the quality of life for the community.
